Impressionist painting inspired by light, place and everyday moments

I am a self-taught amateur painter based in Colchester, Essex, working mainly in oils, watercolour and pen and wash.

I love painting en plein air, responding to the changing light, colour and atmosphere of a place, as well as working in my studio from my own photographs and sketches.

My interests are varied, but it all begins with the same thing — something that makes me stop, look and want to paint.

  • Wivenhoe Park, Essex

    Constable's landscape, seen through eyes.

In 2025 I completed my own interpretation of John Constable's Wivenhoe Park, painted more than 200 years after his celebrated original.

My painting is now on permanent display at Wivenhoe House Hotel, overlooking the landscape that inspired us both.

  • My Story

I am a self-taught amateur painter based in Colchester, Essex. I discovered painting during my recovery from cancer and what began as something to give me a focus gradually became a real passion and an important part of my life.

Today I paint both en plein air and in my studio, always learning, experimenting and seeing what catches my eye next.
